Looking for a coffee alternative in Australia that still gives you a genuine caffeine lift?
Vallentine & Co Guaraná Latte is made for people who enjoy coffee but sometimes want energy to feel different. It combines whole-seed guaraná, Australian bush honey, cinnamon and nutmeg in a smooth paste that makes a warm, satisfying café-style drink.
It is crafted in the Byron Shire, works hot or iced and takes only a teaspoon per serve.

A coffee alternative for people who still want energy
Many coffee substitutes are caffeine-free. That can be useful when reducing caffeine is the goal, but it does not necessarily replace the lift people originally wanted from coffee.
Guaraná naturally contains caffeine. This puts Guaraná Latte in a different category from chicory, dandelion and other caffeine-free alternatives. It is not fake coffee and it is not designed to copy the roasted flavour of coffee. It is another naturally caffeinated option for mornings, workdays and afternoons when you want something different in the cup.
We love coffee. This is simply another option when you want energy to feel different.
Why guaraná?
Guaraná comes from the seed of the Paullinia cupana fruit, native to the Amazon Basin. The seed naturally contains caffeine alongside its other naturally occurring plant compounds.
The caffeine in a finished drink depends on the ingredient, serving size and preparation. Individual sensitivity also varies, so we focus on a consistent recommended serve rather than making exaggerated comparisons with coffee.
For the numbers behind seed concentration, different product forms and caffeine per serving, see our guide to guaraná caffeine content.

Four ingredients, crafted in the Byron Shire
- Whole-seed guaraná: the naturally caffeinated foundation of the blend.
- Australian bush honey: brings rounded sweetness and creates the paste format.
- Cinnamon: adds familiar warmth.
- Nutmeg: gives the latte depth and a gently spiced finish.
There is no isolated caffeine added to the formula. The product contains honey, so it is not vegan.
What does Guaraná Latte taste like?
The flavour is creamy, warming and lightly spiced, with natural sweetness from Australian bush honey. It feels familiar in a latte cup without pretending to be coffee.
Unlike some earthy health powders, it was developed to taste genuinely enjoyable with milk. Use dairy or your preferred plant milk and adjust the strength to suit you.
Why make it as a paste?
Guaraná Latte was born in hospitality, where drinks need to be quick, consistent and easy to make during a busy service.
The paste mixes smoothly with a small splash of boiling water. There is no complicated brewing process and no dry powder that needs extended whisking. Once dissolved, simply add hot or cold milk.

How to make it
- Add 10 g, approximately one teaspoon, to your cup.
- Add a small splash of boiling water and stir until smooth.
- Top with frothed milk to make a drink of approximately 6 oz.
For an iced Guaraná Latte, dissolve the paste first, then pour it over ice and cold milk. It can also be added to a smoothie.
How does it compare with other coffee alternatives?
Matcha and yerba mate naturally contain caffeine, while chai varies depending on the tea base. Cacao is generally much lower in caffeine, and roasted chicory or dandelion drinks are usually caffeine-free.
The best choice depends on whether you want caffeine, what flavours you enjoy and how you prefer to prepare your drink. Our guide to coffee alternatives for energy in Australia compares the main options clearly.
A Byron Shire coffee alternative, built in hospitality
Guaraná Latte grew out of hospitality in the Northern Rivers, where it had to be quick to make, consistent in service and good enough for customers to come back for.
It is now crafted in the Byron Shire and served through local cafés, stockists and markets. That real-world testing still shapes the product: a paste that dissolves quickly, works hot or iced and feels at home in a proper café cup.
Made for home and café service
A 350 g jar makes approximately 35 serves at the recommended 10 g serve. The Duo Pack gives you approximately 70 serves, while the 1 kg Tub makes approximately 100 serves and is suited to cafés, workplaces and regular drinkers.
“After 15 years behind espresso machines, I know when customers genuinely love something. Guaraná Latte has built a strong fan base in our café, with regulars specifically coming back for it.”
